Founded in 2013, Stroud Development is a San Francisco Bay Area–based residential development and construction firm led by Alex Stroud. The firm focuses on single-lot residential projects, approaching each build with intention, clarity, and hands-on leadership from start to finish.

 

Alex Stroud is a seasoned real estate developer, builder, and investor with over a decade of hands-on experience across residential acquisition, development, and construction. He brings a rare combination of analytical rigor and practical building expertise to his work—an approach shaped by years spent evaluating opportunities, managing risk, and overseeing execution at scale.

 

After graduating from UC Berkeley in 2009, Alex began his career as the first Acquisitions Associate at Waypoint Homes, where he played a formative role during the company’s early growth. During his tenure, he helped deploy more than $80 million in capital to acquire over 400 single-family homes across the San Francisco Bay Area and South Florida. He also contributed to building the operational foundation that supported Waypoint’s national expansion, refining processes, developing internal systems, and training teams to operate with consistency and discipline.

 

While institutional real estate provided a strong analytical foundation, Alex was drawn to a more deliberate, hands-on approach to building—one where attention to detail, craftsmanship, and livability are never compromised. Stroud Development was established to apply that perspective to residential construction, where every decision, detail, and outcome directly impacts the people who live in the home.

 

That perspective is shaped not only by professional experience, but by personal values as well. As a husband and father, Alex understands that a home is the setting for everyday life—family routines, shared moments, and long-term memories. This understanding informs the way Stroud Development designs and builds, with a focus on functionality, comfort, and spaces that support real family living over time.
